‘Industrial Bait’ is a series of interchangeable containers which use material to explore concepts of abstracted topography, memory and documentation of post industrial landscapes.

Each container is interchangeable, cast in a jesmonite compound made of collected and modified industrial remnants from derelict Northeast and Cornish sites. Old and new components act as raw souvenirs of time, place and the once thriving Industry.

Sea coal dust from a former drift mine, fragments of Heritage brick carved into forms suggesting plugs and rivets, rusted steel findings, crushed glass, slate. Hand poured pewter, cast borosilicate glass and wood.

Each piece is cast, cut, carved and polished by hand and machine using a variety of heritage craft, industrial and experimental casting processes. The mundane materials sealed within the forms are elavted into something new.

The collection was selected for the ‘New Designers Showcase’ 2013 at Islington Design Centre.
